Although I live in a more progressive area than most and married a progressive man who insisted I kept my maiden name. His mother had changed hers after divorce and he was flabbergasted by it as a young boy.
He insisted my name is my identity and I was glad. It is my identity. From birth to death. And although in the past I did experiment with pen names, I’m glad I chose just me. My unapologetic self. My own, unique expression of life. Connected to a vast universe and my ancestors in this life.
