I do completely agree with you, Michael. I must say, I’m still struggling with this one often. In our surface-driven (and sorry, in my case it was mainly masculine because I worked in men’s businesses in which I often was the only woman) world, I have been healing my past for the last decade. Finding my own femininity and my own version of ‘creating from the inside out’ instead of how I was taught: from the outside in.
I have a woman’s perspective. And I don’t agree if men say there is no privilege in gender. There is definitely a glass ceiling and a lot of inequality here. Women have lost a lot in trying to be tough and shouting louder than the men around them. But men lost a lot too in our culture. And what I definitely don’t want to do is go to a ‘woman-on-top-world’. I believe in balance. I even believe in uniqueness to a point where people can be people and gender can be the full spectrum.
But there is such a thing as healing the past. In my case, my past and the past of many womxn with me. So forgive me if I’m sometimes struggling with words. One thing is sure: we have to unleash the future all of us together. Men, women, and everyone in between. Therefore I like to repeat my mantra often: Dancing and Daring with Diversity.
And I’ll keep experimenting with the words that will always frame some of my perspectives…
