How I relate to this one! I'm Dutch. My husband is too. But I have Asian ancestors, my husband is half Afrcian but never knew his dad. And yes. It's common to be asked "where are you from..." Or get a label. It's called closed-mind-ness. As tolerant as we once were. It didn't grow more mature over the years. And I love your saying. In Dutch we just say: "silence is gold". But the Dutch are very direct. Huge opinions and always out loud. Sorry, on behalf of my people... <3
