Hey Tom, you know I'm a Gaian too. And do you know why I still look to the future very curiously while you have lost hope?
I think something very peculiar is happening. At Schumacher College we discussed a lot about how the big purpose of it all is that Gaia becomes aware of herself. And now, with the cyborgs (self thinking little robots) we are creating as humanity, there is a completely new species that has awareness and will again help make Gaia aware of herself.
I also see that while the USA, Russia and China have men leaders who keep each other in a kind of balance, many women are standing up now as citizens with a mission. Look at Belarus. Look at Marocco, where university students are busy in a big #metoo uprising. Look at Afghanistan, where the women are not allowing the men to turn the clock back ten or more years. They go underground, but they fight. And things will change.
Forget CO2, Tom. Instead, it's fascinating that the oxygen levels are still the same. If they would increase even a little the world would be literally on fire. At this moment, the planet is becoming volatile. I don'w know if you follow the scientists, but there are many new earth quake waves measured and changes deep in the earth. Everthing is becoming liquid, it seems.
So, what else is there to do but accept the reality of today. Not be sad but immensely curious. And become a fully adaptive species?
